Interview with Treehouse Agency

We were recently able to have a conversation with Mike Caccavano, CEO and Founder of Treehouse Agency, one of our awesome sponsors. We had a chance to ask him about Treehouse, their work and their support for our camp.

Who is Treehouse Agency? What do you do? Tell us about your organization.

The short answer: Treehouse Agency is a development agency specializing in the architecture and development of complex, heavily customized, high-performance CMS websites.  

With that out of the way, let’s talk about what makes us what we are. Since we started in 2004, we’ve evolved from being front-end and Flash-centric, to premier Drupal theming specialists, to today’s incarnation as architecture experts and advocates for performance, best practices, and more efficient processes in project development.

We have a passion for not only technology, but for discovering ways to push technologies to their limits and evolve our approaches to using them. Furthermore, we relish opportunities to spread our findings through client mentoring and knowledge sharing at conferences, camps, and online.

Why are you supporting DrupalCamp Twin Cities? Tell us how our community can help Treehouse Agency be successful.

As often as we can, we enjoy supporting DrupalCamps around the country. The sharing of knowledge and skills amongst Drupalistas is vital to the ongoing growth and evolution of the platform.  

The Twin Cities DrupalCamp is of particular interest given the incorporation of Drupal usability research.  It has long been recognized that aspects of Drupal’s usability have served as a barrier to adoption; we are very excited to see research happening to allow continued progress in Drupal usability, making Drupal even more accessible to greater numbers of organizations and users.

How can your community help Treehouse? Keep doing what you’re doing!!  We could not be what we are today without the invaluable work contributed by the Drupal community!

The question is asked a lot... why “Treehouse Agency”?

I’ll be honest...I wasn’t sure what it meant when I picked it. It just “felt” right.

Over the years, however, the name “Treehouse” has provided a cornerstone for how we’ve grown as a company and a brand.  Over and over again, when we’ve stopped to ask, “is this us?” we come back to the spirit symbolized by the tree house.  As a result, that spirit has become infused into our brand DNA.

When I talk about that spirit, there are many things that come to mind.  Tree houses are built around shared vision, creativity, and camaraderie. They are places where friends gather to dream up wild ideas, explore the landscape, and make plans. And tree houses are unique, custom-built for their occupants and visitors.

Keeping close to the spirit of the tree house ultimately keeps us on track as a company. It prevents us from taking ourselves too seriously, reminds us to have fun and explore, and inspires us to build strong, personal relationships with our co-workers, clients, and colleagues.
