Interview with Phase2 Technology

As part of our communications with our super awesome sponsors, we recently had a chance to conduct an email interview with Betsy Ensley of Phase2 Technology. Phase2 is one of the top Drupal firms on the planet and they're also sponsoring our camp and, through it, the U of MN Drupal Usability Testing. This is what she had to say:

Who is Phase 2? What do you do?

Phase2 has been committed to the same core strategy for the last decade: design, develop and support high-quality, innovative web applications using open source technology. Since 2005, Phase2 has proudly designed and built large-scale Drupal platforms for public sector, publishing, and non-profit institutions. We provide Drupal distributions to meet the needs of open source CMS for publishing (OpenPublish), government (OpenPublic), and team collaboration (Open Atrium). Why are you supporting DrupalCamp Twin Cities?

One of Drupal’s strengths is its community. We proudly sponsor and participate in DrupalCamps around the country. We also organize CapitalCamp.org, which is Washington, DC’s DrupalCamp and would love to see all of you there July 22-23!

Phase2 specializes in a just a few verticals (public sector, publishing, and non-profit institutions). Why those three? Are their common elements that tie them together?

For the past several years, we've devoted extensive time and resources to solve the common problems faced by those in open government, advocacy and publishing. Our specialization has happened organically over the years. Location is definitely an influencing factor for our specialization, as are the common needs of the user for audience engagement, scalability and flexibility. We've found Drupal to be the best solution for meeting these needs. By continuing to implement large-scale web projects tailored to these audiences, we developed distributions, such as OpenPublish and OpenPublic, which enable us to share our knowledge with the rest of the Drupal community.
