Interview with Gold Sponsor MinneWebCon

At last night's Twin Cities Drupal meetup, we had a chance to sit down and talk with Gabe Ormsby and ask him about his role with MinneWebCon. MinneWebCon is one of our DrupalCamp Twin Cities sponsors and this will be the first in a series of interviews with our sponsors.

Who is MinneWebCon? Tell us about your organization.

MinneWebCon is an annual conference for web professionals that draws participants from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities companies and organizations, and from across the upper Midwest. Our 1-day conference takes place each April on the University of Minnesota Twin Cities Saint Paul campus and covers a broad range of web-related topics, from a content strategy to code and APIs.

Why are you supporting DrupalCamp Twin Cities? Tell us how our community can help your organization.

We've seen a growing interest in Drupal in the four years of MinneWebCon, including within the University environment. With MinneWebCon's broad scope and being a one-day conference, we don't have much of an opportunity to focus on any one technology or CMS in any depth, so supporting DrupalCamp is a way we can recognize the value that projects like Drupal bring to the web community and make our attendees aware of additional learning opportunities. We are also interested in bringing our broader focus to the Drupal community: Because regardless of your specific platform or tool, you still face questions about usability, design, quality content, and organizational capacity that we address at MinneWebCon.

How does one participate in MinneWebCon?

Unfortunately, we have already closed registration for this year's event (April 11, 2011), but we will have the dates for 2012 on the calendar before DrupalCamp Twin Cities. Visit www.MinneWebCon.umn.edu or follow @MinneWebCon to learn more.
